I would like to ask you a very IMPORTANT QUESTION.
Can blog be used to protect someone? Would this medium help deter any threats from happening to someone?
What do you think are needed (photos, text messages, etc.) to make this as an effective deterrent?
Please let me know what you think. Just write/leave me a comment at the box below.
Thank you so much.

This is a very huge possibility or potential. As of now, there is not precedence out there where blogs can be used for this purpose. Maybe the closest is the character defense made by Mickeymotoc of Ressureccion Borra in his blog Stepping On Poop.
Because of that article, Mr. Borra’s reputation was protected from further damage caused by those who are so determined to destroy him.
Major Tom: Thank you very much.
If I may ask — when you say protect someone, do you mean like against some sort of character assasination, or actual physical harm?
What I’ve heard of is that some companies are expanding the responsibilities of their PR departments to include combing the Internet for any postings or discussions that may be harmful to their products or stocks. It would then be the job of their PR guys to rebut or spin so as to control the damage.
But the scenario that Major Tom brought up, I’ve seen as well in a couple of situations with auspicious results.
the person who would do this probably respects or cares that much for the person. in a way, it could help, just like in that case which major tom had related. i think it could help lessen character assassinations but to the extent of real life threats, i am not sure..
Eric: No physical harm yet. Threats are sent thru text messages and coupled with some kind of bullying. I saw the text messages and they were very alarming and disturbing (psychologically).
So, I thought this might be another way to help him. Of course I advised him to report the matter to proper authorities.
I knew of two blogs, just forgot the urls, that were instrumental in helping people during disasters: Missing persons during the Tsunami disaster (by a Pinoy in Netherlands) and during Katrina by an American youngster . Still, not of this kind.
Thank you.
Bingskee: Yes the guy is close to me. I do not want to go overboard so i posted this matter here.
One of my friends, who works in a media outfit told me that this is a borderline case (depending on the materials presented else might be considered as libelous).
He said, it will be effective if media gets into the picture but then again, it will take time before they decide (newsworthy or not plus the research) to put this out on print or tv.
Thank you so much also.
I think blogging can help.
Lani: Thank you for your input.
Well – try this (the link from my name.)
That was done to protect people – and it has proved more and more necessary as the internet has become saturated with false propaganda, by the likes of Noemi Dado, Reyna Elena etc. etc.
They have no ethics at all as bloggers – check the story – not one of them have a clue what was going on – well maybe apart from Noemi – she seems to be right at the centre of it – liasing with Mayen, her colleagues at Tierra Maria Estates – yet still she went ahead and produced an hour long video – full of lies – without even checking whether the girl was telling the truth or not – that wasn’t the issue – it was pure propaganda – how evil and corrupt can you get?
of course mye, you know better than this ellumbra troll. It is he who is clueless on our culture, putting his dick where it shouldn’t be. Read his blog then this: http://www.theworldoffilipinas.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10719&st=0
This may be a long read but worth the fun. Be sure to laugh at Tim Cumper afterwards ok? And be prepared to be accused of being part of the propaganda.
