I fired my Boss
Published December 30, 2006 Advocacy , Daily Life , The Other Side , Thoughts in Words , Work 6 CommentsLate in the afternoon yesterday, I had a talk with my Boss. He told me that he is very sick because of the bad weather here. He said that the this winter is worst compared to previous winters. It is unforgiving and it makes everyone sick. He advised me to take a solid breakfast everyday so my stomach will have something to grind that will keep myself warm.
Before leaving he told me, “Oh come on, your commissions and bonus will come next year. Do not try too hard.” And he left.
While he was walking away I stood up and noticed the clock in our Treasury Department. It was 5:00pm in New York..
After few minutes, my boss came back. Still far from my desk, she was shouting and started nagging me about many things that I do not understand. She said that I am too demanding and very unreasonable. She called me a d**k-head.
I was confused. At the same time I was amazed, almost amused, at what she was talking about. I told her to shut up and if she doesn’t, I will fire her.
She did not stop and so I fired her on that very moment. “You are fired!”, easy and just like that.
Unfortunately, I was only dreaming.
I supposed everything is clear now and you no longer wonder why the boss was a he and then suddenly he became a she. In real life gender change is possible but not that fast as in this dream.
Ah, dreams, it is fascinating – everything is possible as long as you are asleep.
Oh by the way, do you know how to fire servants effectively and permanently? Please let me know. I want to fire Gloria, her cohorts in the government, the corrupt politicians and government officials.
Must me dreaming again ha?
These are the real faces of the millions of Overseas Filipino Professionals whom the Philippine government calls “Ang Bagong Bayani – The Modern Day Heroes”.
These Few Great Men are among the many faceless Filipinos who for years helped the Philippine economy afloat, out of bankruptcy and financial crisis.
Despite the hardships, the struggles – personal or otherwise, the homesickness and the loneliness, and everything that true heroes have to endure, they are still happy, smiling and still proud. The true mark of the modern-day heroes and Few Great Filipino Men.
Nothing and nobody could bring them down. They always succeed no matter what.
A Few Great Filipino Men, Heroes All!

Dcember 25: This day is almost over
Published December 25, 2006 Daily Life , History , In the News , Thoughts in Words 4 CommentsChristmas is about to end here. Oh, let me correct myself. I must say that the 25th day of December 2006 is about to end. Nothing special here about this day. It is but a usual day of work. I am in a different world. Yes, in their world, not the world we all know.
Before this post becomes a rant on the 25th day of December, I would like to thank everyone who wished me the best during this day. Thank you so much! It made my 25th of day of December lighter.
Also, I would like to thank my ISP and Skype for keeping me in touch with my family in the Philippines. These two entities did not let me down on Christmas eve, Philippine time. I had a very meaningful yet not too costly long distance Noche Buena (without food of course – LOL) with my family, virtually. Skype hooked me up with my family for more than five hours of continuous high-quality video and audio streams without getting disconnected. (Yahoo failed me… BOOOOO. it sucks on the eve of Christmas.)
It was great seeing my kids and wife live on my screen and me in their monitor, with all the laughter and the NOISE from firecrackers heard over the microphone. It was like I was there with them celebrating the occasion. Nowadays, location does not seem to matter anymore.
This day is almost over, somehow, technology makes “One less lonely and homesick Pinoy in the world on Christmas eve.” And for that, I am very thankful.

Help Harrison find a bone marrow donor
Published December 16, 2006 Advocacy , Announcement , Daily Life , The Other Side 6 Comments
Harrison Leonardo is a two-year old boy who is fighting Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) and needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. He’s spent most of this year fighting cancer, which went into remission in August. Unfortunately his family learned the cancer relapsed just before Thanksgiving.
He is currently hospitalized and undergoing another round of chemotherapy while his doctors and family search for a donor.
Harrison is half Filipino and half Caucasian and will most likely need a donor
with the same ethnic background, or possibly someone else who is all or part Asian and Filipino as well. He doesn’t have very much time to find a donor.
Please help Harrison, check his website at www.helpharrison.com or Harrison’s Blog for more information on how to help him.
This is probably one of the best gifts we can give or share during this Christmas season.

RADIOHEAD
The Bends
Fake Plastic Trees
A green plastic watering can
For a fake chinese rubber plant
In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
It wears her out, it wears her out. It wears her out, it wears her out
She lives with a broken man. A cracked polystyrene man, Who just crumbles and burns. . . . Please click here for the complete lyrics.
Are We?

My prayers, sympathies and condolences
May God Bless you.
