Let me share to you this powepoint presentation.

It is not my wish to spoil your weekend. I just hope that after viewing this, the simple message gets accross: We MUST help SAVE THE EARTH NOW before it is too late.

Please click this LIFE IN THE YEAR 2070

Old man“This is the year 2070. I have just turned 50, but I my appearance is of somebody of 85.

I suffer from serious kidney problems, because I do not drink enough water. I’m afraid I do not have much time left to live. I am one of the oldest people in this society.

I remember when I was a child of 5. Everything was very different then. There were lots of trees in the parks, houses with beautiful gardens, and I could enjoy having a shower for half an hour.

Nowadays we use towels with mineral oil to clean our skin……….

I cannot help feeling guilty, because I belong to the generation who contributed to the destruction of the environment or simply did not take into account all the warning signs.

Article published in the magazine “Cronicas de los Tiempos“, in April 2002. LIFE IN THE YEAR 2070

i shudder at the thought! i may not be live by 2070, but my dhildren’s children and their children may–for their sake, we have to contribute in our own little way. we have to begin with ourselves then our families, then reach out to the other members of the society. if each of us does this, if each family does its share, the world might be a better place to live in. it is not yet too late. LET US HELP SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT, LET’S HELP SAVE THE EARTH!

This post reminded me of my younger years. In my place along Kilometer 68 (my Lolas used to say) now EDSA and West Avenue, there were lots of trees and open spaces.

Big and mighty Acacia trees were standing along and in the middle of EDSA. Streching from North Avenue to Quezon Boulevard there used to be a forest. On the other side going to Pag-asa, there was a swamp where I learned to catch fish, dragonflies, butterflies and to cook kangkong.

Along West Avenue going to Circle, there were lots of open spaces and the only prominent establishment then was the Barrio Fiesta.

Now, instead of swamps, we have the North SM, on the other side where there was a forest is the Trinoma and squatter community( in front of the Philippine Women’s University – JASM High School). In the middle of EDSA is the MRT. No more mighty acacia trees. Along West Avenue, you can hardly find an open space.

One thing is for sure, trees and forests are disappearing fast and big malls are becoming the new forest.

Yes sexymom, in our own little way, from within our families, we can help SAVE THE MOTHER EARTH.

People hear what we’re saying. But they don’t listen. They don’t understand. They just nod their heads then move on.

Hindi naman kasi umaaksyon mga tao hanggat walang visible manifestation ng mga effects na kinatatakutan natin eh.

at kailan nga kaya aaksyon ang nakakarami? kailangan talagang magsimula sa ating mga sarili!

It is man’s folly to destroy his world and therefore himself. HIndi kasi naintindihan ni Man what his role really is.. He was supposed to coexist with all living things and all nature. He is not suppposed to have domiinion over earth. He’s not supposed to wield the power of life and death on all other creatures. Somehow, — i may be wrong — but parang the Bible doesn’t have anything to say about co-existing and preserving and being friendly with the rest of creation.

This is so nakakalungkot Rollly. Have you read Ismael? It made a very great impact on me .. much more than “Small is Beautiful: Technology as Though People Mattered..”

Ay, did your kids call you up to greet you Happy Father’s Day? Greet na din kita.

Scientists believe that there’s traces of water in MArs embedded under its crust. To think that Mars may have had water 5 billion years ago and underwent a climate change, it’s scary to think that the Earth might undergo the same kind of drastic change that will decimate all life forms in the planet 😦

In the letter, you have just previously read was a letter written in the year 2070 by an anonymous old man. He said that he was one of the oldest men in society. Imagine, now, year 2009, the oldest is 80 and above. I can’t believe that he’s just 50 years old.
In his letter, he sounds like guilty; his heart is full of guilt. I never thought that there will be destructions like this. So from now on, we should understand the old man (the writer of this letter), we should give the environment more importance, we can plant trees, we can throw our garbage in the proper trash cans and most of all let’s clean our surroundings.

i guess the writer presumed that by that time, perhaps due to the damage to the earth, people die young and if you reach 50, you are likely lucky to be the oldest and also one the of the unfortunate people because you suffer from different sicknesses brought about the toxic earth.

as i have read the letter, we humans should value the water that is present today. love it and care of it as a human its because we only realize its value when it is lose.
water give life to all living and non-living. because we don’t know not only water have a price but also many years from now…
    we pay for our breathe…
    start value water…
so that we can live happily not only us but also the next generation.

the slide presentation was so nice espesially it’s contents…..
it makes me believe that this might occur because as what i observed now,we people are not aware of what’s going on.
BE POSITIVE..THINK YOUR FUTURE!! Together as one nation….let’s all act for our environment…DONT LEAVE THEM HELL AS A LEGACY……LEAVE THEM LIFE..as the presentation say.

im also touch with this story but i can say that we the people of this generation be a good model to all people living because we are not having all about our self but i can say that its all about the next generation of the future…lets help our mother earth and think that if we care the water and air now the story of that old woman cannot be experience by the next generation if we manage it wisely…im a youth and i promise that the next generation will be experiencing what we have experiencing today….people please take our mother earth…….
