BUKAS, May 13, 2013 – Eleksyon

The man @ Baguio City public market

The man @ Baguio City public market

sya: hi Mr. roi! This is sya.
ako: yes sir, this is rolly. Good evening sir? How I may help you?
sya: I new in market, can help me. … saying some words i can’t understand.
ako: yes sir, tell me. perhaps I can help you.
sya: yes. yes.
ako: okay sir. what help do you need?
sya, la. no understand much.

then, i heard him calling someone.

sya: here, kabayan.

Me, i proceeded doing something that is not unusual. It is not UnUSUAL IN THE SENSE THAT bank employees are required by law to do the usual.  lol.  I am referring to the required (sinabi ko na ito di ba?)  KYC (Know Your Customer) blalalala.

and that was the magic question

me: Ha? Ha!

and that was my stupid answer.

Ha? Ha!

The gang of thieves or a bunch of schoolyard bullies?

This keeps me wondering for a while today. You have seen and heard the news.  It was loud and clear – Officials of the Aquino administration barred the Arroyos from leaving the country.

And typical of the televenovelas that we Pinoys have had to endure or enjoy for years, the bida and the kontrabida are doing what they are supposed to do – ACT. The carefully worded statements on media (of course) directed at us viewers, delivered with so much passion and great emotion, perhaps to gain sympathy or empathy (look, I am pitiful baby.), to raise our emotions, to tickle our brain cells, just in case they do function that way (hahahaha) are pasted everywhere and we are now in it, amused or otherwise, watching the shift of fortunes, just like in the Gulong ng palad.

As it was then and as it is now, it is very clear that everything changes. The then powerful family who stayed in power for nearly nine years (or more) is just like the many  men that lived, died and had fallen (including Manny Pacquiao although not dead yet. lol) and as always, at a certain point, had to struggle as  tricks usually ran short hence,  losing invincibility is a certainty. With it, comes the realization (I just assume,) that being in that powerful tower of power  is just a temporary cloak that covers human frailties, change,  good or bad has to take its place.

Perhaps, the gods went crazy and the universe conspired,  set the condition for harvesting what  has been sown.  Probably this is a simple case of karma, the ‘basura mo babalik sa yo’  thing or simply, that which they normally say, ‘what goes around comes around.’ After all, there is a shape called circle and in it, there is always an angle or place where every turn of events  are happening or where it is bound to happen. At this point, a 360-degree turn is at full view of everyone.

Life is good and life could be a piece of shit and it always depends on which situation one is  in. Being in any of that circumstance is either a poetic justice or simply an irony of being alive. Again, just like in most telenovelas, the tensions always build up, much more intense than the previous one because the actors changed roles.

So what?

Okay, let me.

Let me just focus on one of the main characters of this unfolding telenovela. The one who is at the thick of the airport scene? The one who is now in the frame of your screen? The one guy who is GMA’s light and shining armor? That one you either love or hate but could not be named.

The man.

And because he is the man of the moment, let us dwell on what he is barking about at this point. Forget the props and the hullaballoo. Let us zero-in to that one piece of shit that this guy has just said. That one that caught my attention and that is:

Aquino gov’t ‘a bunch of schoolyard bullies

As it is or as it was (whatever), I remember one good statement that was said long time ago which my brain could not remember who ever said it and it goes this way, ‘They are the gang of thieves!

Now, we are presented with two interesting if not compelling lines from one of the actors of this ongoing high drama brought to you by the Philippines Never Ending Story Productions and from the guy who I could not remember.

The BIG question in my mind for which I hope you would help me find a good answer is:  Which do you prefer?

The gang of thieves or a bunch of schoolyard bullies.

I’d like to assume that your answer is as good as mine – Nothing! But then, we’ve been through this situation (choosing the lesser evil) several times in the past, so, just,

Tell me.

****

Another piece of **** I heard on TV the other day:  “Yong ibang tao, nagtalukbong lang, nakaalis ng bansa. – Banana Split.  LOL

Screwing the Screwed!

Here is my son’s take on what to do with our country’s situation.

While studying for history, I am growing more and more to the inclination of the acceptance that this country has been fucked up for such a long time now. It appears in my readings that the country progresses indefinitely.

Why? Well because sometimes it doesn’t. In fact, it appears that the only progress the country had for the longest time was Erap, which actually and really says more about the nation’s social divide, process of thinking, and star preference rather than its growth as a nation-state. What amuses me though is that the basic premise of all these screw up-ness (corruption, etc.) has been long in existence and yet, no change is happening.

Are we that stupid?

But let’s not be all too pessimistic. Maybe there is change happening, some sort of Machiavellian turn on the current system somewhere out there; something the tax was rightfully spent on as opposed to the new status quo of self-serving governance. After all, we managed to screw up this country thus far, maybe we can screw up on screwing this country too. Change has to come from somewhere, and by the looks of it screwing the screwed should not be passed up.

If the country does manage to do that, then let’s “problematize” the obvious moral degradation it will need and cause. But with the way things are, how much moral really is there? But that’s for a different day.

For now, I dare say, let’s focus on screwing up the screwed way of things. Act right. I should probably start with stopping my procrastination right now.

Medyo Related: I am a Filipino! Who am I?

Who knows?

Ever since I started to love our country, I have a nagging question inside my small brain – why is our country moving backward? Without any clear answer,  my logical mind tend to believe: that lust for power has something to do with it – Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely., that most of if not all our leaders and citizens are already corrupted by the rotten system.

Last week Archbishop Ramon Arguelles made a disturbing statement to justify the decision of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) not to back the impeachment bid against Gloria Arroyo. My logical mind somehow got a good piece of that answer:

Which,  in simple words, the archbishop’s message was,  doing bad or immoral thing is okay if everyone is doing it to everybody! And you do not need to be a genius to understand what he said, do you?

This line of thinking is without a doubt, one of the reasons why our country is going down.

Having a small brain in my head, half of which are filled with blog things, I now presume that perhaps, the same kind of people, the likes of this  archbishop with twisted mind were the people who taught our parents and our politicians about the concept of right and wrong. It is somewhat ironic that most if not all of our parents, politicians, and us graduated from the schools run by the archbishop’s kind (priests, nuns, or a religious order).

Who knows, perhaps during our early years inside their churches, one or many of them taught us  in a subtle way, the twisted reasoning that cheating is not cheating when everybody is cheating everyone.  Who knows, perhaps one or most of of our early teachers (hired and educated by them) and the so-called moralist of our society think the way the archbishop thinks?

Maybe my assumption and my thoughts here reflect how twisted my mind is. Maybe the archbishop shaped and twisted it.

Who knows?

I am worried.

A lot of questions now linger in my mind. Would the good archbishop agree and say the same thing if all Filipinas do abortions? Would the good archbishop officiate marriage if groups of Filipino gays and lesbians ask him?

Is Archbishop Ramon Arguelles’ twisted concept,  the general stand of the archbishops in the Philippines?

Lahat naman nandaya, e. Natalo lang ‘yung iba sa dayaan.

Then you worry!

My simple prayer: Father forgive me for I have blogged so much. Forgive me for I have ranted a lot. In return, I offer this rant for free to Archbishop Ramon Arguelles.
